What They Are
Cockroaches are among the most resilient pests on the planet. They reproduce rapidly, hide in tight spaces, spread bacteria across surfaces, and are strongly associated with triggering allergies and asthma, especially in children. Seeing one cockroach almost always means more are present but out of sight.
Why They're a Problem in Lubbock & West Texas
Lubbock's dry climate does not deter cockroaches, it drives them into homes where they can find moisture and food. American and smokey brown cockroaches enter from outside through gaps in the foundation and utility penetrations. German cockroaches are the most serious variety: they breed exclusively indoors, multiply extremely fast, and are the #1 most requested specialty service SWAT handles.
Signs of Infestation
- Seeing roaches in daylight (a sign of heavy infestation, they are nocturnal)
- Small dark droppings along baseboards, in cabinets, or behind appliances
- Musty or oily odor in kitchen or bathroom areas
- Egg cases (small, dark, capsule-shaped) near harborage areas
For standard cockroach coverage, SWAT's barrier treatment eliminates American, Oriental, Brown-banded, and Smokey brown cockroaches on contact and prevents re-entry through exterior perimeter treatment. German cockroaches require a targeted specialty treatment.
